Handpainted Turkish Purple Fish Dish
Handpainted Turkish Purple Fish Dish
A delicately painted delightful purple and aqua fish motif bowl.
The opportunities are endless for this adorable fish bowl! The fish are playful and charming, and this bowl would make a wonderful dish to serve up some assorted tapas (we recommend olives, grapes, or figs), or to display a collection of shells, incense nubs, or jewelry. Display it on a shelf with good company, or on a generous bathroom vanity filled with artisanal soaps. It's also a great size for cereal.
ORIGIN
This handpainted dish was made in Turkey. The mark reads, Kütahya, which is a town in Turkey which has been famous for its more traditional blue and white ceramics, Fritware, or stone-paste pottery, in which ground glass, AKA frit, is added to clay to reduce its fusion temperature. Fritware from Kütahya were historically known as 'Abraham of Kütahya ware'. Although not blue and white as typical of this region, this dish is still a stunning little art work of modern pottery.
