Recycled Beldi Glasses
Recycled Beldi Glasses
Following traditional methods, each piece in this collection is handblown (by mouth) in Marrakesh by local artisans using recycled glass found in the surrounding area.
A Moroccan word, Beldi, means traditional, rural and natural. And it is used to describe many elements of authentic Moroccan culture and items, but perhaps the most world-renowned use is of the beldi glassware. Since its creation in 1946, the beldi glasses have become a genuine Moroccan tradition, and the preferred tea glass of all local families.
The most traditional form of Beldi glass is distinguishable due to its small puffed rim, that allows it to be easily picked up and stored in racks. In addition, the rim makes it safer to handle when filled with hot beverages, like tea and coffee.
These glasses pair well with our Socco Designs Glass Pitcher (pictured).
